Good evening all,

Just sat down to watch The Usual Suspects tonight. Must be at least the 10th time I've seen that film. To this day I can't stop grinning after watching that film.

I do love my crime thriller/ "gangsta" films. I have well over 70 DVD's on my shelf, of which a large number are the classics. Scarface (79%), Get Carter (74%), Godfather (I (91%),II (89%),III (73%)), Chinatown (84%), Casino (78%), The Long Good Friday (75%), Goodfellas (86%), L.A. Confidential (84%)...

Anyway, For anyone who has not seen The Usual Suspects - do it. DO IT NOW!!

It's one of those films (up there with Arlington Road, Fight Club etc..) that has a surprise ending, that you don't want to know before you see it.

However, as I said, I've seen it loads of times - but I still just love watching the way the story builds up and then completely breaks down. More importantly the amount of interpretation you can give it when you actually think through the story.

Some people say that a film with a surprise ending can only be watched once. Utter bullshit. Sorry - but I had to say it. Yes, it's true that you can't watch it the same again when you know the ending. However, you watch it in a different way - a way that watches for the (amazingly frequent) hints and suggestions. The acting is brilliant.

I'm also a bit of a sucker for quotes - I like to remember my favourite films for their favourite moments, and their best lines. Dunno if that's odd, but it works for me:

What the cops never figured out, and what I know now, was that these men would never break, never lie down, never bend over for anybody. Anybody.

The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

I think this is awesome - highly subjective, but it seems to fit a lot of cases...

How do you shoot the devil in the back? What if you miss?

After that, my guess is you'll never hear from him again.

And like that... he's gone.

I'm gonna go to bed now... but I'm still buzzing on that ultimate last line of the film: "And, Like that, he's gone... My guess is you'll never hear from him again.". Abso-f***ing-lutely beautful. Bryan Singer, if only I could shake your hand.

Goodnight all[attention][attention]

I've been too busy to think about colour [wink]

In fact, I think I'll work on that now.
