I decided to do a cross-platform test with my new laptop which came in today (ITS GOT XP OMG OMG OMG) and after some MSVC6 shitty debug dll issues, I got my demo to run.

AT 550 FPS HELL YES!

Compared to the 70fps I was getting on my dev machine, this is a huge "U R WINNAR" night for me. I'm now no longer concerned about performance issues, but I'm thinking about adding in different levels of detail and such, which will sutomagically adjust to fit user performance.

Hell. Yes.

No offense, Great Mushu, but me thinks that be a big no-no. Since your game is an RTS, you have enough work as it is. Besides, "adding in different levels of detail" requires you have a working game. As it stands, you already know the specs of the comps that will be testing your game, so there's really no need.
