I rarely create threads asking questions these days. Not sure theres a particular reason for this, but that just seems to be the way.
Rather, every now-and-then some really good threads come along that I like to keep a very close eye on. The whole thing is that I can constribute to these as they are often an area-of-interest, yet at the same time there are some other intelligent posters replying such that I can learn some new stuff.
As you probably know, I like terrain rendering [smile]
DirectX: Extracting Normals - A good thread on normal generation for a regular heightmap based terrain renderer. It's going off on a tangent now, especially into the realm of projection texture mapping.
Graphics Programming & Theory: The Idea - A bit of talk about the basic geometry about using/abusing heightmapping to get more elaborate terrain.
I'm hoping that these threads go somewhere, as the former thread (particularly texture projection) is something I've been thinking about and the latter thread has been a place I can throw down some pretty diagrams to explain the idea you guys read in my journal a week or so back [smile]
Till next time!
