I only have two items I would like to make a public statement about. I do not particularly feel like writing, but I am feeling compelled to say something about these particular items.

First, to the fools planting bombs in London, all I have to say is: karma. May the faceless lunacy you displayed today come back to you equivalent to the sum of all the pain you caused.

On the other hand, I admire the British. London is one of my favorite cities in the world, and the reaction of the British majority to today's events is respectable, proper, and so perfectly British. I love it.

Second, Hurricane Dennis. I have spent the majority of July 7 reading meterological charts and other data in an attempt at forming my own personal forecast for this hurricane. I am a bit of a tropical weather junkie. I believe it will be skirting the Florida west coast about 150 miles offshore and making landfall in the NE gulf around the armpit of Florida. The next two to three days will be interesting as far as seeing how this hurricane develops and its track unfolds, but if I end up being correct then my area should be getting strong tropical storm or weak hurricane force winds sometime Saturday afternoon. I'll get the video camera out if that happens.

Regardless of the final track Dennis takes, if this storm redevelops when it gets past Cuba and into the Gulf then I wish the best of luck to whoever gets hit by it. There is a good chance it will be a Category 3 or 4 storm when it hits, and the Panhandle area where the storm is likely to head is still recovering from last year's storms. They really do not need another storm right now.

Anyway, it is only July, and the Atlantic weather pattern is acting like it is August. Between this and last year's pattern, I guess we better get used to the tropical weather here in Florida.

I second that.

Just wanted to say Hi Kev, you done a good job on GameDev. Just wondered though, are you simulating the hurricane path on your computer? If so, that would be fantastic.

My friend from London emailed me this morning, saying how if he hadn't missed his train, he would have probably died.

Then he said that he walked home, put his feet up and had some tea. [grin]

I was just visiting my grandparents in the Florida panhandle (Pensacola to be more precise). Much of the city is still cleaning up from the hurricane last year. Almost all of the hotels on the beach are still closed. It actually looked like the hurricane had come through at most a month before - I can't begin to imagine what it must have looked like immediately afterwards. Another hurricane this season would be really bad news.

I'm not simulating the hurricane (just reading NOAA and NHC maps and data), but that gave me a cool idea. Maybe one day I'll have the time to implement it. [smile]
