I guess I'm a poor craftsman.

Yes, it's a poor craftsman who blames his tools, but some behaviors I've seen on the Mac with XCode have just outright baffled me. So what do you do when a program you know in your heart of hearts that the program that you have in front of you should not link, but the IDE insists that it built successfully and that you can even try debugging it?

At least the program triggers a fatal signal right away so it doesn't completely violate my sense of rightness with the universe.
