On with a new semester.

Our new semester has begun and the 10 people taking the Game Design class have splintered off into two groups. Both groups, I think, plan to make an oldschool RPG. My team is planning to use Allegro with C++, and the other is going to use PyGame. It should be pretty cool, certainly beats the normal classes.

Another note about the game class. We're supposed to have a couple of speakers come during the semester. I talked to KHawk about this, and if everything goes right, there will be a video available from the presentation/Q&A session, or whatever it turns into.

The speakers may not be big names in the game industry, but it should be interesting to see some of them. One person that my professor may be able to have speak is a programmer that she knows at Pixar who, I believe, is involved in the graphics (don't hold me to that). Either way, it should quite a treat to here a presentation from someone in a high profile company such as Pixar.

I'll keep my journal updated on the progress of the games as well as any information on the speakers [smile].

A friend of mine from college went to Pixar. He was always modeling x-wing fighters on his computer. I've seen his name in the credits (he's moving up the ladder). Should be a good talk if it's him. Ask him if drinking Mountain Dew and vodka makes T2 look better. If he says yes, that's him.
