I'm in the process of closing for my first house!
As for programming, well C++ is the "gravity driven explosive device." It took me a while to ween myself off of procedural style programming.
I am driven by a quote by Edsger Dijkstra, "It is practically impossible to teach good programming style to students that have had prior exposure to Basic; as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration." If you know the acronym for BASIC, then you probably fit the bill. My mutilated brain is starting to repair itself no matter what Dijkstra says.
Since my absence, I am happy to see a lot of new threads in the AI section although it seems heavily geared towards neural networks--though that's not necessarily bad.
I've been messing around with case based reasoning. It actually a very simple concept. You begin by storing episodic information (called cases) in a database. The idea is this represents the knowledge you have. You then query this database with a new problem (or incomplete case). The case based reasoning engine then finds the best case matches from your database and adapts a solution (if necessary) from these matches. You then evaluate the new solution and store it as a new case in the database. At least that is what I have come to understand. Again, there are so many ways to do the matching and the adaptation..as well as designing the case database. Time to be creative.
Anyway, ta ta for now and I hope everyone is doing well. I tried the new version of Angels by Sir Sapo. Looking much better!
