I don't have any new screenshots to show this week, but we've made a bit of progress on the game this past week. One of the other guys was able to get different maps loading properly with a simple boundary check, so we'll be trying to get map changes working when on a specific tile. We also found a library that we'll probably wind up using, Guichan, so we'll be experimenting with it soon. So far so good.

In other news i'm considering building myself a new gaming system. This will be my first system, so I still have questions. I'm not very up on the hardware specifics and how everything works together, so i'll throw a couple of questions out there for those that know more than I do.

1. Right now I have a factory computer from HP that has a 2.4 Ghz processor speed, and, according to a system utility I ran, a 133 Mhz FSB. At the moment i've picked the following components:

Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0 GHz processor 1000 MHz FSB

1. Now, what i'm unsure what sort of performance difference there might be. If you give up 400 Mhz in processor speed, but gain something like 867 MHz of FSB speed, i'm sure there has to be some sort of performance gain, i'm just not sure what.

2. At the moment i've picked a dual channel set of memory sticks so i'll be starting off at 1 GB (the motherboard is expandable to 4 GB). What I want to know is if there is really a performance difference in 2x512MB sticks or a single 1 GB stick. If not, I may go with a single stick.

That's all I can think of at the moment and thanks to whoever has some answers for me [grin].

You need to have two sticks of memory in order for them to operate in dual channel mode. So if you want a gig of RAM you need 2x 512MB. If you want 2 gigs you either need 2 more 512MB sticks or sell the 2 you have and buy 2 1gig RAM sticks. Always in pairs.

Ah, sorry, I guess I wasn't really clear. I meant if I had 2 512 sticks running in dual channel mode, would it be better for performance than a single 1 GB stick. Thanks for the response though [grin].
