Right, so I decided that my HDRI demo was about where I wanted it to be. Thought I'd draw a line under it and move on to something else [smile]

I posted about it in the DirectX forum. Wondered whether the DX or the Graphics Programming & Theory people would be more interested, but realised I'd get my ass moderated into next week for X-Posting [lol]

Now I remember why shaders scare me [smile]

That does indeed look extremely sexy. I'm too scared to install newer versions of the DirectX SDK just now, but I'll be sure to play with it soon.

They aint that scary. I picked them up pretty quickly, and I only started a couple of months ago [grin]

The only problem is that you don't wanna go back once you've started [lol]

Thanks! You can pick up the d3dx9_27.dll from a couple of the links in that thread, and then just run the included executable. You only need the updated SDK if you want to build/modify it [smile]

Actually, I tried that and it didn't work. I took d3dx9_27.dll out of one of the setup .cab files, and stuck it in the folder. Running the program then gives:
Quote:An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction. (0xc000001d) occurred in the application at location 0x0040bdeb.
Which is rather odd [smile] I guess it doesn't like the d3dx library for some reason. Oh well, I'll get a copy of the latest SDK now. It's about time I upgraded it anyway.
