I've been thinking about it quite a bit, and I've determined that I want to try out making a Zelda like adventure game. And for this, I'll be using C++.

Now, I know what you're thinking, wasn't he using Java? Well, I really want to start game programming again, and I don't feel my abilities in Java are good enough yet to do that.

I just really want to start coding something new, and I got alot of ideas of how to do an adventure game while I was toying around with Java. Ironically, all of those ideas would only work in C++, so that is what I'm going to use.

It's not that I like either one more than the other, and I'm going to keep studing Java, but I have more experience in C++.

Good choice. There's a distinct lack of Zelda-style romps on the PC and a good one could probably make a decent impact on the indie market.

Start with a good engine, then make small episodic games that can be downloaded and work with the existing "player". That way people can pick and choose what parts they want to play. [grin]
