Ok so far the plan for learning how to program game goes as follows:

1. Finish my C++ module through Game Institute.
2. Move onto Game Institute's second C++ module.
3. Write a few small Text based C++ games to further my C++ knowledge
4. Move onto Game Institute's DirectX course/s.
5. Make a small DirectX game.
6. Take over world!!

More details to come.

Sounds like a pretty solid plan, good luck with it.

How have you found the Game Institute modules, I assume you at least consider them worth the money since you're planning to continue with them. What's the course content like, and are you using any suplemental material along with it?

Since Game institute have re-done their C++ course and split it into 2 modules instead of the one module they had when I first enrolled the course seems alot more in depth and they it better prepairs you for the DirectX modules.

I've also been read/working through a book called Beginning C++ Game Programming which seems to be a good book. Nice and easy to follow.
