It's nice not to see any repeating pattern, thanks to procedurally generating uniquely every terrain patch. This is a shot of a mountaineous area as seen from 5 km above.

Looks very nice so far. One thing I think you are missing though is different terrain types based on latitude as well as altitude and slope. So you have polar ice caps to deserts near the equator. So you should have a 3D color table with different sets of (altitude, slope) colors per latitude region. Don't forget to offset your real latitude by some noise to avoid straight line changes of climate.
