Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

This post isn't about anything much, I just finished watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and I felt the need to post something about it.

To be quite honest, I had heard a lot of stuff about how it was a great film, so I decided to sit down and watch it. What a complete waste of 108 minutes (according to imdb).

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD

Basically the film was all about a couple who break up. The girl gets the memories erased then the guy gets the same done as revenge or something. Then while the guy is having his memories erased in a rather bizarre and disjointed sequence, he decides that he wants to keep them. Unfortunately he doesn't, but he does wake up and go out and meet the girl all over again. Only this time, they find out that they erased memories etc, and decide to do the whole thing all over again.

Blah. What a pointless film. I can see vague metaphors of "you learn from your mistakes" etc etc but it seems really overkill for just showing a couple breaking up and getting back together. Seriously, is this a Sci-fi film? you've got to be kidding me.

Other films I hate which lots of people love: The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Exorcist. Feel free to tell me how wrong I am and why I should like these long and boring films!

You sound like one of those pseudo elitist movie critic types who refuse to see a film when it's in theater and instead wait for everyone to tell you how good it is so you can happily disagree when you watch it a year later. [grin]

I wonder what movies you do like.?

Unfortunately that's not the case, I tend in fact to be more forgiving of movies (The matrix sequels weren't that great sure, but they were still watchable. I don't pretend they don't exist like some do).

The reason I only just saw this now is that I hardly ever go to the cinema, and generally just watch movies every so often when I feel like it, I rent them. I saw this one while I was browsing, I had heard good things, so I borrowed it.

No conspiracy here ;).
