I've been working on a new version of the starfield with darker colors. You can see two versions:

- pure black space:

- dark space with shades of blue dust:

The clouds and some more planet details are missing for now.

Another atmospheric sunset:

That last shot is stunning. Any chance of a large version for a desktop wallpaper? ;)

I 2ND the desktop wallpaper idea [grin]

Those shots are real-time aren't they? Maybe you should look into writing it into some of that fancy new WPF stuff in WinVista - have those sorts of scenes animating in the background..

Yes, unless otherwise stated, everything i post is always real-time. I don't think i'd have time (nor much interest) to write this kind of things in Vista though :)

I hope you don't mind, but I set the second screenshot as my desktop backround. :D

I personally like the second screenshot the most because, first of all, the firts creenshot is just space wit hstars, and the planet looks like its simply an orb hanging in space. Shich is scientifically correct, of course, but the main feeling you get from it is that the planet is not "attached" to the space it's in, if you take my meaning. Like it doesn't belong in the picture. The second shot somehow makes the planet fit right in. I think it has to do with the colors. More blue in the black of space, and more of a shadow on the planet. All in all, great job!! :D
