Deep thoughts

Someone I knew from college just died from cancer. Funeral Friday.

Some things just suck.

She was only three years older than me. It kind of makes me wonder where I'll be in three years, and what I'll have accomplished. And while I enjoy posting here and there's certainly nothing wrong with spending a good deal of time trying to help a bunch of people become better programmers; it kind of makes me question the amount of time I spend on the boards.

Ironically enough, this is also my 5000th post on gamedev.

While I don't plan on leaving, I've come to the conclusion that I've let some of my priorities slip over the past few years. I think I'll take some time this weekend to refocus. There are things I want to do, and I'm not sure that explaining for the hundredth time why MSVC can't do separate compiliation of templates or how to declare globals in headers is really getting me there.
