Although everytime I see that screenshot though I keep thinking you're developing some weird Final Fantasy version of Q*bert...

I can add face images later, it'll be simple to extend the class to do so. But now that I've got basic display functionality, I need it scriptable to interact with the Keyboard Object, CommandProcessor and the StateEngine… joy!

Is it actually alpha-blended, or is the box just dithered? It's hard to tell because the underlying tiles have the same pattern. ;)

It is both actually… both blended and anti-alaised.
