Hey everybody!

Mark and I have been working pretty hard to smooth out all the current problems with Angels 20 before the student IGF deadline this November. While I have been cleaning up the code and fixing bugs and crashes, Mark has been drawing up some really cool ships that will be actual entities in the game, not just tiles shaped like ships.

It's going to be really cool, there will be these ships that can fire at you, launch airplanes, and move, and they will also have cool death animations, such as a huge explosion followed by the ship nosing down and sinking out of view, or having it's stern still sticking out of the water. Collision Detection is going to be a bitch, but I think it will be really cool, and worth the effort.

While Mark has been doing that, I have been messing with the game code to make it easier to read, and less prone to crashing. The first thing I did was split up the updates from the rendering, which means that I now have framerate-independant movement, YAY!!!! I also removed almost every pointer in the game that didn't have to be a pointer, and replaced it with a non-pointer version of the same object. As I said before, I started this project with a limited understanding of pointers, so I ended up using them everywhere.

Anyways, thats all for now, I'll probably upload a slightly updated version of Angels 20 sometime this week, but don't expect any drastic changes. I'll talk to you guys later, and leave you with this screen-shot Mark took after he massacred and entire Island of people:
