Intermission II: Four Days, One Game

Not much to report on the game creating front from me. I'll be free to work on my own projects again after tomorrow, however.

I've decided to try and create an entry for this "One Week One Button" competition. I was planning on setting myself a bunch of one week game creation tests anyway, so I might as well start now. If I manage to create a decent game in time, maybe I'll spend the rest of the year working on little one week challenges instead of finishing Project Nova, since the whole point of that project was to get a game up and running anyway. The idea I've got planned for this competition is closer to the sorts of games I'd like to make in the future, so Nova is a bit redundant in that regard.

I don't think I've got a chance of winning; I can't start until Wednesday, and all I've got at the moment to base my game on is the barely started "Nova Engine", an idea and a theme tune in my head. I don't even know how to display sprites in OpenGL yet. But it's not about winning; the plan is if I give it my best shot I'll probably learn more about game programming in a few days than I will without such a fixed deadline.

I'll post some screenshots of my work here on Wednesday. Let's see how much I can get done in one day!
