So, I've been spending a bit too much time on the forums in the last few days. Luckily my university related work is in the domain of advanced real-time D3D graphics - I have a legitimate reason to spend time here now. [rolleyes]

I also realised that there have been a few of the classic questions repeated recently. Anyone who spends enough time in any sort of forum will start to spot these sorts of patterns...

The ones I've picked are ones I've contributed to, but I tried to pick them because the answers are hopefully good enough to be a FAQ-style reference. Not sure it'll work out though.

  1. Texture render troubles
Why: D3DX Resizing Textures During Loading; Finding Dimensions of Textures Once/Before Loaded

  2. Question regarding DrawSubset method (ID3DXMesh)
Why: What (probably) happens behind-the-scenes in ID3DXMesh::DrawSubset(), State optimization

  3. Transforming 3D-Point "by Hand" into 2D
Why: How to go from 3D to 2D, Some of the Maths behind it.

  4. Can i use .x files to render spline shape models?
Why: Details on how to define new types of geometry in the .X format

The last one in that list is from the MSDN DirectX/Gaming forums; I'm a moderator over there so I tend to read a lot of the posts [smile]

So, where do I archive these links...

So, where do I archive these links...

Forward them to the lame DirectX moderator, so that he'd hopefully put them in the FAQ, where nobody would read them.

[lol] well you could always use it as an excuse to flex your (lame) moderator muscles on those that don't read the FAQ...
