Thanksgiving

Having a leisurely thanksgiving. We were gonna have it with pals Rick & Terri, but they got called outta town at the last minute for a funeral (sorry guys). So it's just us today. Shelly and Maggie are having big fun cooking things together. I've been sent to the store twice so far.

We got an early start this morning and I completely lost track of time. After getting home from the store, I popped open a beer, planning to veg in front of the teevee for a while and surf for football.

Then Shelly informed me that it was 8:30 in the morning.

So I poured myself a cup of coffee. But I didn't wanna let the beer go to waste, so I drank both.

Thanks to jollyjeffers for pointing this out. Develop magazine is a really good game development magazine. Unlike Game Developer, I find myself reading the articles in it. In the past year, I can only recall one GD article I actually read (an article on Texas Hold-Em AI). Problem with Develop is that it's eurocentric, and it costs about $150 US to get it delivered.

But now you can download it free from their web site.

And I'm thankful for that. This is thanksgiving after all :)

Speaking of which, at a recent DFWEF platform, Maggie and Terri put together Maggie's list of things she's thankful for. I'll have to post the whole list, because it's a scream. It starts out with the typical "my family", "my friends", but we then go into "bagels", "Halloween costumes", "orange juice", etc.

Vice-versa with GD for us.. I looked it up a while back and it cost enough to very quickly decide against it.

I'm not quite sure how they manage it, but in the UK you can get a hard-copy of Develop (like I do) for free if you declare you work in the industry. Which is nice of them.
