Got myself a nice 80GB harddrive today; double the size of my last one. Installed Windows and all of that jazz. Most of today was an installation-fest. Decided against the Academic copy of VS.NET 2003 I have and popped on Code::Blocks instead. Also reinstalled Morrowind (of course) and had some fun with that.

The other night me and Draffurd (great friend and game artist/composer) did some hardcore brainstorming on Mystery Project. Still no details shall be unveiled, but they'll come as things progress. Looks like I'll be reviving my plans for the Beta2D engine (scroll down a ways) to both speed up development of Mystery Project as well as future projects. Let's just hope the motivation holds a bit more this time. ;)

Star of Shadows RPG hasn't been touched, still. I'm going to see if I can get my hands on a USB harddrive enclosure and recover the development copy I had on my harddrive before it whonked out. I really don't want to redo v0.03 again -- that was at least 30 hours of work that I put into it. Sweat, tears, blood, and a few dozen non-alcoholic beverages. Still praying.

Noticed a lot of people are "closing" their journals in a sort of mocking fashion to EDI's Raymond. Cut it out, please. I agree that he is not 100% in the right, but he's leaving because of supposed childish actions in our populace. And here we have GD.NET+ folks proving his point. Even one of the staff members. Gads. That's all I'll say: gads..

EDI knows mine is all in good fun. I talked to him today and told him not to close it.

Also, only 80GB? I just bought 450GB worth of disk and I'm getting started on tapping it.

I soon will be getting a GDNET+ and ive been activly reading these journals/forums for years now. I have been keeping myself on the DL (man you only get a few chances in life to really use that) as to not gather any heat but I feel this whole bashing Raymond thing is the time for me to come out of hiding. I would like to be the first and probably only person to say thanks for realizing whats happening in journal land. Its so childish to bash someone like that, expecially if hes already in the dumps. Knowing him as a friend, he puts alot of pride into gamedev, and it most definatly means something to him. Hell, he went out and bought a digital camera just for his journal.

Oh and im in a similar situation to you, my labtop charger pin broke and to get it repaired comes with a hard drive reformatting, I have to buy a 3.5in USB case for my labtop hard drive or lose my blood sweat and almost a case of izzle (100% fruit juice soda usuially sold at starbucks) worth of engine development. Its funny how things ironically happen at the worst of times, and usuially in very unfortunate ways.

@Ravuya: 80GB is a lot for a meager developer such as myself. Sourcecode doesn't take up that much space, y'know. ;)

@SSG: Hope you see your journal among ours soon. I did a lot of lurking (DL! :P) before I started posting. There's no real such thing as "gathering heat". It's more important to just be yourself and to heck with the rest of everyone else. If they do happen to agree with your stance, then all the better. I was especially happy at the way you tried to turn around the Raymond thing with all of the positive things that people had said about MW.

Sorry to hear about your loss as well. :( Take my advice and start backing up insanely. I've begun backing up my stuff to my 128MB USB pen religiously. ;)

Good to see you've upgraded from boots to a mantle :p

.:Seer, the guy whose posts never have anything to do with programming.

@Seer: Once I clear off this dungeon and sell off the rest of my loot in town, I plan on getting me a full plate set of Coding. Heck, maybe the local enchanter can beef it up with some extra Debugging stats. ;)
