Being sick is not good...

I've been pretty sick since Saturday, hence why I haven't posted. I'm feeling kindof better, so I thought I should give an update.

I'm working on incorporating SDL Image into the game right now. I'm almost done with that. The game will probably be done and in the GDS soon.

One of my bad habits when working on a game is to think of great ideas for games that I can't possibly make but distract me from my current project. This time, though, I thought of a great idea that I'm capable of doing. In fact yesterday I figured out in my mind how I would make the game work.

First, let me explain what it is.

It's simple, the game would be a beat-em-up. I really like beat-um-ups, such as one of my favorite game series, Streets of Rage.

I've always wanted to make a game staring a hero like Batman. Basically, a superhero with no real superpower, but still beats the crap out of endless waves of badguys.

The games story would be the standard story of someguy becoming a superhero and saving a city from crime and so forth. It would play like Streets of Rage, where you move throughout the stages and beat up every nameless thug in your path. You can pick up weapons that you find on the floor like baseball bats, knifes, etc, to help out.

I've already thought up how to work the game, such as map scrolling, the combo system, how enemies will work. This is the type of game I've always wanted to do, and I finally think I'm capable of creating it.

I'm ready to start working on this new game, so obviously that is draining all the motivation out of my current game, but I must finish this first.

I'll probably post my ideas on how to program the beat-em-up for critism here though, as the rest of the work on Bob isn't that interesting.

Anyways, expect to play Bob(the game) soon.
