Today is a sad day for all indie game developers alike. Due to the lack of funds starting your own game development business, I am now an official burger flipper at my local Burger King. Hired on the spot with my past work experience with another BK, when I was 16..... It's not so bad considering im still young (18) so its not like its that embarrising, hopefully within the next two years I'll be my own boss and I can stick a whopper right up my bosses buns (OH THE PUNS!). Anyways, pitty me GameDev, for I make fries!

I feel your pain, mate. I worked at a department store over a summer, and a farm a few years prior.

Money is money; even if it doesn't involve coding. For example, I'm currently working at the local Harvey's burger chain. :)

I worked at a video rental store when I was 18, it was GREAT, I took my old ghetto laptop with me and I had all this "free" time when customers weren't around to write code and do school projects.

But hey, at least you're getting paid =)

Harvey's rules though -- they seem to be a much higher class joint than Burger King. Delicious, too.

Do not feel so bad even I when times are low keep seeing myself right back at Best Buy as a service tech again. Money is money and we all do what we need to survive. I wish you the best of luck and hope this is only temporary. Keep pushing forward and keep working on games when you can since I am sure you can make it.

You've got to pay the bills, and have the skills for reals. Burger flippins better then pure snatchin so what's the big deal if you gotta melt the chedder to get the cheda? Um.. I've somehow turned into a white suburban rapper, but that's besides the point. Unless you've got a great business plan, and or investors you're going to have to fund things for yourself,[jealous rant] (unless your Dan Green and have been programming since you were twelve, and got signed on with a publisher cause your supper, but I guess that falls into the previous categories mentioned.)[/jealous rant]. As far as flexablitly goes fastfood jobs aren't bad. They pay very poorly though, and then there's the turn over rate of all the employees, but at least you get to meet a lot of interesting people. Just watch out for the special sauce, and don't inhale too many of the fumes from the friers, I used to feel like my lungs were coated with grease at the end of each day, but then again I did it for six years.

It's true. I actually do take a fair amount of pride in where I work; I wouldn't work somewhere that I didn't respect. *slides you a coupon* ;)
