I completed a few little items today, but nothing really big.
Labels
Labels are an effect I wrote today that pretty much display a texture on the screen for a certain amount of time, and then fade out. It's pretty straight forward, and I'm using it for stuff like turn transitions and whatnot right now, nothing particularly exciting.
Post-Mortem Damage
This pretty much just deals a certain amount of damage to ships in close proximity to a ship that just exploded.... not very exciting.
Action Points
This was the biggest thing I programmed today. Action points represent a ships ability to do something (ie. move, attack, launch fighters, etc). It costs a certain amount of Action points to do every action on a ship, and you only have a limited number of points to use each turn. After your turn ends, your ships get their Action point reserves recharged. The action points of the ships Are currently represented by the little number in the upper right hand corner of the tile the ship occupies, but I'm not sure if we are going to keep it that way.
Anyways here's a screen showing the ships with action points, and a Label on the screen.
Mark also drew up this picture, contrasting the styles of 2 of the factions in the game:
Peace Out!
Also: is that font programmer art, or intentionally messy? I think it would drive me off the wall to try and play with it. ;)
