rational vs. non-rational curves

I''ve been reading about rational Bezier/B-spline curves and I don''t understand it when they say that a rational curve has the advantage of correct perspective transformation. I know what rational curves provide weights for control points, but this perspective thing lost me. Can anyone explain what this means? I don''t see what''s wrong with the non-rational curves in perspective space, it looks correct to me. An example would be the best. Thanks
