confirm texture formats????

hi all how would ou confirm texture surface formats that are supported by the video card. the IDirect3DDevice::CheckDeviceType(blah...) is only for backbuffer formats and surface formats that are supported....not for texture formats...so is there another function that specifically checks fror texture formats?? thanks all

Well you can use IDirect3D8::GetAdapterModeCount to find the number of different display modes supported then use IDirect3D8::EnumAdapterModes() to find out what each of them are.
Then all you have dto do is look at the D3DFORMATs reported.

I know that theres some MS code that wraps this up in a nice window that lets you swap res etc but i''ll be dammed if i can find it now. Try having a look in the SDK.
