Some Internet sources seem to say that MSVC++ .NET simply requires a version of Windows XP and others (including Microsoft) say it requires the Professional version. Will it run on Windows XP Home Edition? Thanks!

It will run just fine on XP Home - the only restriction is that you cannot do ASP.NET development, since XP Home doesnt come with IIS.

If you want to do ASP.NET dev without Visual Studio.NET or IIS then take a look at Web Matrix.

It''s a freeware IDE for ASP.NET development. It''s not a Visual Studio replacement, but it has a lot of usefull features to help make ASP.NET development easier (including a simple web server).
