Including maps into your programming???
Ok, i was just building a small game but i was confused on how you add maps too your programming?? eg. i want to make my character spawn in a certain place on a 2d map so i create a class to do so but how do you tell the program to include the map to spawn on?
plz help me.

not sure what you mean. but you would need to decide on how you are going to implement the map. tilebased is very common. try looking up isometric game programming tutorials for ideas on how to implement these. then you could have a tile with some kind of tag which declares where your player spawns
hope this helps a little

Ok what i ment was that i wanted to use a map in my game but dont know how to tell C++ how to do it. Well more like i dont know to to tell C++ how to include any other file in general apart from cpp and h files.
I think at this point in your skill level, you just need to read some more on basic file I/O. There are many resources out there on file I/O on the internet and in many books. After you understand the basics of file I/O, you can look into isometric maps and things of that sort.
I hope this helped a little, and good luck with your project!

We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been." - TOOL [TheBlackJester ]

a map? you mean sort of like what i did?
download it here
and i have my own editor for that map. you just point and click and make the map, then save, and after that i can just open it with my map-opening-code.
in order to do something like that, you need to know the these topics: pointers, and memory allocation (especially function malloc()), file io (input output), linked lists (i didn''t use them, but you still should know at least what they are).
search, learn, read books, etc. this stuff doesn''t come easy.
good luck.

Sorry, but the question was so vague that I could not resist.
