I agree with BaelWrath. Some artists can create really nice atmosphere with the ISO engine. Even better than with a 3D engine(even though I''m making a 3D engine I don''t have artistic talent. I''ve seen screenshots of a game that drew a nice castle(with part of a wall cut out) as and ISO and I almost thought it was in full 3D. Only on close inspection I saw that it was too smooth for a poly engine. There are some nice ISO pics at rpgdot.com site. Think atmosphere and gameplay because that is what will draw players to your game. Well then there''s also storyline, ai, etc. etc, but if the game feels lifeless then it will be boring to play I think.

I think sprite based is more of the term that he was going for in the original post.
Also the whole infinity thing, fallout, icewind, torment, baldur''s gate.
ummm...
I''m making a game using DD in DX7, as far as 2D having a future, of course it has, you don''t have to go with the flock of people making terragens & engines With the Infinity engine, would they be using 2D in 3D?
I definitely believe there''s a future for 2D iso (or even 2D flats) games. I still play the Dragon Warrior games (Except the 3D DW7, for some reason, and I did a bit of translation from the Japanese ones) as well as the Final Fantasy games, again, up until the 3D ones started coming out. Gameplay is still the key.
Sqeek.
Duh...

Infinity?
i ran a query on the web about it,
so its bioware''s engine?
is someone willing to update me on that?
