After all my problems trying to build a worldcraft *.map viewer, this kinda extracts the urine I found an OpenGL tutorial on loading Quake3 BSP's and had it modified for direct3D in half an hour... and it works perfectly.. textures and all!! In the process I have learnt the code involved despite the fact that it doesnt originate from myself as I've had to change little bits of almost all of the program. Looking back I wish I never bothered with the *.map viewer, it was an invaluable experience, but compared to this, it somewhat wasted time. I'll be working on converting the lightmapping and other functions into Direct3D versions ASAP and if I'm lucky enough to get it working just as quickly, I'll be one happy chappy then finally I can get to the good stuff.... the gameplay!! yaay me *EDIT I don't wish to start a flame war, but the frame rate in the direct3D version also seems significantly better than it was in OpenGL, which makes me glad I bothered to convert it over [edited by - mephs on June 27, 2002 1:05:37 AM]
