Remembering DirectSound Configuration

The DirectInput references at MSDN online explicity say that the application can store a device''s instance GUID for later reference in a config file. What can I save about a DirectSound device in a configuration file? Should I dereference the LPGUID in the enumeration function (if it''s not NULL, of course) or is there a better way?
