Converting from 3d to 2d coordinates

Ok, given a 3d coordinate with x, y, z components how would I determine the screen coordinates of the point? A quick google came up with this, even though it answers my question and everything i wanted to know if there is an easier, possibly faster method specific to OpenGL. sark.
