I have a class header with a private member variable of a type that I declare in another file (Types.hpp) is it proper to add #includes into a class header? shouldn''t all #include statements be in the .cpp body file? if so how do I solve my variable problem

Yes, you can and should put #includes in a header file if you need them.

This can get tricky, tho, if you include the same header in your cpp file, since it''ll end up being included twice. To combat this, people use Inclusion Guards. Do a web search and you''ll turn up plenty of info on these; they''re very easy.
