Window borders

Hey! I''ve a performance related question... I''m trying to draw the borders of a window in DX8, the borders have 1 pixel width. What would be faster? Do I just render a line using D3DPT_LINELIST or a quad for each border? I''ve read and heard the device converts the line into a polygon thus making the render slower, but since I''ll only have 4 lines, what should I do? Thanks!
