I remember reading somewhere about the study of how animals patterns and population density by determining the amount of food, competition, risk, etc... I could figure out the formulae myself, but I''d like to read about it from a professional source. Does anybody know where I could read up on AI (normal AI not pathfinding, or game oriented.)? Thanks

Are you referring to the Lotka-Volterra equations for dynamic systems (which are used to describe predator-prey dynamics)? Or are you talking about evolutionary studies using AI techniques?

Cheers,

Timkin
Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for more along the lines of predator/prey scenarios over a long durration. Sort of a Darwinan evolutionary philosophy... I hope that clarifies things. Thanks

Stealing what timkin said I just did a google search for Lotka-Volterra. There are a large ammount of articles there covering predator/prey sutff, I suggest this would be a good place to start (if you havn''t already).
