Re-Assigning references

Is there a way to un-assign then re-assign a reference?? I don''t mean change the value of what the reference is pointing to, but make it point at a completely different object?? Also, is it possible to not initialize a reference and assign it later??? Why don''''t we just kill the guys who write error messages. It''''d make our lives a hell of a lot easier **************************** Gimme a break, I''''m Just 13 (14 in JULY)

Talking in C++?

Negative. Once a reference is "bound", it can *NEVER* be
"bound" to anything else. Also, a reference *MUST* be
"bound" to something when it first comes to existence.

If you need to reassign, then you have to use pointers.
