Is there any way to create lightmap without writing a raytracing program? I do not know much about raytracing programming, can I create lightmap by some 3D software like Lightwave? Like some kind of plugin that can render the lightmap for me. Thanks.

Export it to RIB and use RenderMan. There are several free compliant renderers out there; see the RenderMan FAQ. I don't know the details with LightWave, there may be a plugin which works directly.

(Hmm, BMRT has been discontinued (?!) now that nvidia has bought Exluna.)

Paul Nettle released a really nice radiosity-based lightmapping tool (including full source code):

There are specialized lightmapping plugins for the big 3D packages but I haven''t used any of them and they tend to be very costly.
