Export X files to/from 3DS/Maya

Hi! I been looking for a tool to convert x files to maya and I found one (deep exploration) but the maya file it creates doesn''t match very well with the original file (in my case the worrior.x from Jim Adams rpg book) Then I created a 3DS file with this convert program and opened it in milkshape 1.54 and then converted that file to a wavefront obj. This file I could open in maya and the model seem to look as the x file did. But this is no desirable way. my questions are: 1. Are there any good converter from x-files to maya? (maybe a import plugin to maya?) 2. the x-file exporter that MS created for 3DS4 and Maya4 are one of them better than the other? I''m thinking about animation,skinns well plain what you see is that you get thanks /Niklas
