Mesh & Morth Problem (Please Help)

Dear all, I am a newbie in OpenGL and I got some problems in my work. I want to write a program just like the "Dolphin Project" in NeHe. I ripped out two models from the popular 3 dolphin .3DS file. I then converted the two models into ase format in order to get the vertex information. However, after I put all the vertex in my code, and draw it by GL_TRIANGLES, I saw my Dolphin is crushed.....is that any vertex information I have missed? Also, how to define world coordinate system and local coordinate system in OpenGL? Thanks you for answering my stupid question~ Please give me an example for me to reference, thanks a lot.
