I am currently working on a small rpg and i am having some speed issues with the engine. I am simply using DD to BLTFAST tiles to the screen and it is going a bit slower than i think it should. I tested it on a slower machine and it worked faster??? Without seeing any code, can anyone tell me what are some common mistakes. I am using a modified version of the dx code at gametutorials.com. here are the specs to my com and the one i tested it on. mine: PIII @ 1.1ghz 256 mb pc133 geforce 4 mx 420 w/64mb WinXPhome slower comp i tested on: AMD Duron @ 700 mhz 256 mb pc 133 Vanta w/8mb winme "Computers are only as smart as their programers" My Site-> Still working on it.

Don''t do stuff you don''t have to?

Without any code or anything, I don''t think you''re gonna get any better answers really...

Are you using DirectDraw 7 ? If yes you should emulate everything software rather than accessing the video memory. It runs faster on some slowest computers because the graphic cards probably don''t support hardware "acceleration" (lol).
