floating point precision & performance

According to the documentation DirectGraphics'' performance is increased if it''s running in single precision floating point mode. You could come to the conclusion that this could be a major advantage over OpenGL, if you''re only using SP floats, since you can use DP and SP floats in OpenGL simultaneously, without worrying about the FPU mode. It looks as if DirectGraphics doesn''t gain any performance advantage from it over OpenGL according to posts making you believe that it wouldn''t matter what API you''re using. Please oh mighty moderators don''t strike us with thunder and lighting and allow for a technical discussion. We have eaten from the tree of knowledge and we might find out things that may annoy you.
