hello, I am learning windows programming. I am a little bit confused with the button and menu and icon. Is someone know a good and short tutorial where I could find answers to my questions. My goal is to create a window application in the photoshop design. there is a main part where the user could see graphics(GDI) and another part where he could clicks on different buttons(zoom, enable the selection, etc....) Thank you for any help you can give!!!! zip7000

The MSDN should explain what are they (hints: under User Interfaces of Platform SDK). And for the "zoom, slection, ..." window thingie, that''s called Tool Windows (I think).

Button is said to be a Control, but has window handle : HWND... so you could treat it as a normal window too.

hmm... I don''t think menu is a Control, but a resource. You could create it under resource editor. Child window can''t have menus.

As for Icon, it is also another type resource.

.. hope that helps a little. Good luck.
