Antialiasing problem

Hello I have GE Force2, I loaded a bicycle mesh once using DX8, and a second using the obselete DX7 retained mode.HAL was used in both. The DX8.1 shows the stair effect very pronounced, while the RM is real cool. I followed the dsk8.1 instructions to check for the antialiasing capability, the result was negative. I feel there is something wrong because if RM can do it, 8.1 should be able to do it. Here is the capability code if( FAILED(g_pD3D->CheckDeviceMultiSampleType(D3DADAPTER_DEFAULT,D3DDEVTYPE_HAL , D3DFMT_R8G8B8, TRUE, D3DMULTISAMPLE_2_SAMPLES ) ) ) Can someone provide a hint. By the way when I use the format D3DFMT_A8R8G8B8 the capability check returns possitive, but the stair effect is still there(After enabling the antialising code of course) Thanks

You might have buggy dx8-drivers for you card. Sometimes the drivers misreport the capabilities.
