i need advice on a book

hello i just wanted to know which book would be the best for advanced stuff. either real time rendering tips and techniques or shaderx. ive heard that shaderx has the disadvantage of using ps 1.4 which i wont be able to support. but i havent heard about real time rendering tips and tricks. which book would be best for shaders and all. and do the books have too much beginner stuff at teh beginning. like intro to windows programming and directx and all of its components. because i really dont need that right now. i saw that real time rendering tips and tricks was number one in the list of directx books on gamedev. but shaderx is not mentioned over there. does anyone have both of these books and feels one is more useful then the other. any help here would be greatly appreciated thanks for your help
