Orbital Particles

Hi there all, I have been designing a particle system and I found that I want to add orbital particles. I would give each particle a mass based on it''s size and the emitter a mass. But how do I calculate the acceleration vectors so that they update the velocity vectors correctly to produce a orbital type movement. It doesn''t have to be perfect but I want it to "look right". If I''m totally off base of this whole thing forgive me I have never taken physics formally and could someone please point me to some resources on how to make orbiting particles. That is all I really want
