I'm new at this can anyone help?

I''ve never programmed anything before in my life, but i love to play video games and i think i would like to try to start making them. can someone explain the process to me or give me some links or books that will explain the process. thank you. I don''t really know very much about computers but i''m willing to learn. Btw i programmed some formulas in a graphing calculator before, is this along those lines?

Get a book on C++ and read it cover-to-cover, comprehending all examples (that is, if you wanna be a coder (i.e. game programmer)). Then we'll talk about making games.

A decent place to start is the forum "Hands-On Interactive Game Development" in this Teej gives enough information to make tetris, from this you can derive enough information to go further into game development if you so desire.
