Actually, I did understand what you were saying...
I guess I forgot what I really wanted to say :
Photoshop is a very moronic program.
That is, if you want to convert, say, to a palettized mode, you have to make sure that the picture CAN BE converted to paletizzed mode... yeah I know, it doesnt make any sense, does it ?
The truth is, I never remember why the damn thing greys out option. But basically, if you start having channels, or sometimes even layers, or something, it prevents you from accesing those options.
so if you want to convert to 8bit mode, flatten your image, destroy any mask, and I think then the damn thing works...
stupid machine!

Anyway, sorry I am not more precise, I dont have Photoshop on this machine
