good, commented octree code?
i''m trying to work on making a bsp. but i''m not even sure where to start, is there any very small simple as possible ie no shortcuts commented bsp code anywehere. i can''t find any. i''m trying to use the quake2 source, but its bsp code is strewn about lots of files and is of course shortcutted beyond belief
err i thought they were the same thing. i don''t care how hard it is to implement, but whichever aids collision detection more, or whichever is fastest.
www.CodeFortress.com: I have fully commented Octree Code with Collision Detection and a nice tut along with it. Look in tutorials.
If you thought they were the same thing than you need to do more research before you attempt it though. And it does matter how hard it is to implement, if you don''t even know the difference how are you going to be able to do anything with it (unless you''re just copying the code).

i''ve used bsp game editors before, and i think i know how they work. the bsps ''cut'' space with planes, and each cut is a leaf. after all the polygons in the space have a cut, thats the end of the tree. i just thought an octree was the same thing. i''ve been trying to read all that i can about them but i''ve found one or two octree articles, no bsp ones.
