I''m trying to write a dll which contains all the base functions and classes for more complicated projects so all I need to do is link to it whenever I write something....Creating the DLL is fine and I know how to export functions and variables from DLLs to the main program...but how do you do the opposite ? How do you have variables declared in the main program that the DLL can use ?

The short answer is NO .

The long answer is that, a DLL can be loaded into many different
EXE to be used. There is just no way the DLL itself can
know what variables are declared in the various EXE and use
them directly.

In other words, it''s a one-way street.
