Hi, I''m just starting to get into creating levels - just basic layouts, walls and floors etc. But coding them by hand is a real pain once the levels get larger than 2 or 3 sectors, is there anything i can do to make this alot easier? Should i start looking into bsp? thanks for your time

for terrain construction take a look at:
http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/

it is really great.
you can import/export your terrain as rawfiles.
And you can create great skybox- and terrain-textures...

but it isn''t very usefull for indoor-levels.

Although you should note that Teragen creates a heightmap (the raw file) - as you probably know, a grey scale image, where the pixel colour represents a height value for your terrain, so teragen is a tool for creating better looking terrains, where as most drawing packages will allow you to make a greyscale image.

If you feel that your levels warrant BSP, you should certainly look it up - and just in case you wern''t aware, bsp is generally used for indoor areas, outdoor scenes (terrain) generally use octrees or similar system. This will be a factor when it comes to choosing how you display your levels.

Most of this stuff will be up to you
